:05, happening as we speak, a big sink hole on highway 87 in san jose. that's right along the southbound side of the highway near west virginia street. work crews are out there and so is ktvu tara moyarti but what's the very latest? >> workers workers will not continue work until engineers arrive. we had to move because it was simply too dangerous. you can see where they've blocked out one southbound lane of 87 on the left and then one lane of alma avenue on the right. the sink hole is about 30 feet wide. there's a big gap underneath the median. now caltrans discovered the problem tuesday. they came out. they poured some gravel. sort of a band aid fix. and last night they compressed the gravel and found it sank. you can see where the concrete is exposed now. there's a huge crack running up and down on that roadway. they shutdown some lanes on the freeway. we are close to west virginia street. just to give you an idea where we are on 87. crews are expected to be out here all morning repairing the sink hole. damage is pretty extensive. the highway seems to be moving up. right now let's check i

tonight, the house speaker john boehner i'm told is telling president obama he's open to discussing a big deficit reduction package, somewhere in the ballpark of $3 trillion over ten years. but first, though, speaker boehner said it's imperative that his members telling him the senate vote first on the house plan, cut, cap, and balance, if it fail fails, then look for th negotiations to continue. >>> key elements of the republican establishment are trying to nudge the hard line conservatives to a compromise. defaulting on our debt is not an option. it has real, immediate, and potentially catastrophic consequences. the ratings agency standard and poor's sent a team to capitol hill saying not raising the debt ceiling would stain america's credit rating and drive up interest costs for everyone. many house conservatives, though, aren't ready to give up and some of them won't budge. they say if there's any new taxes in this deal at the end, they would rather have the first default in american history. >>> in our new cnn/orc poll gives us a fresh sense of what you think. 34% of americans say an

in the big picture. when you start going to one extreme or the other, you're not going to get anything done. everybody's egos are going to get hurt constantly. so, you know, there are so many different ways that they look at things. for instance, holistically, people that have been paying into social security have basically been paying with ious and stuff like that for a very long time. they are saying everybody has to be on the table. we have been on the table for the longest of time, giving i'll use. they actually said, ok. it is like looking at soldiers in iraq and saying, well, you have to put yourself on the table. that is the way to look at some of these things. i think that, if we get more congressmen -- it is difficult when they are being paid by big business and stuff. they say extreme things so that they know big brother is noticing that they are putting their plugs in for them. winning campaign financing to keep the map the point -- we need campaign financing to keep them at the point where they can look at things holistically. host: thank you for weighing in. we will talk about
